

Use your supported Echo device to send SMS messages using your mobile phone to your friends and family.
The optional Send SMS feature allows you to ask Alexa to send SMS messages using your Alexa enabled devices.
Alexa sends the SMS messages using your mobile phone. Carrier charges may apply.
The feature is only available for customers with Android phones (v5.0 and higher).
To send an SMS message using an Echo device:
Sign up for Alexa Calling & Messaging in the Alexa app
Select the Conversations icon.
Select Contacts.
Select My Profile.
Enable "Send SMS" and accept the Android OS permission.
Say, "Send an SMS to [contact name]."
Please note that text-to-911, group messages, and MMS (picture and video messages) are not supported.
You can disable Send SMS through your contact card in the Alexa App.
The SMS will contain a text transcript and a link to your voice message.
